Dr. Lasha Pierce, MD , OB/GYN
INTERIM CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER
Dr. Lasha Pierce is a West Oakland, Ca native and has served the Oakland community for two decades. She has a B.S in Physiology, San Francisco State University, and medical degree from the University of California at Irvine. Dr. Pierce completed her residency in Obstetrics in Gynecology at Kaiser San Francisco and received midwifery training from community midwives in the Bay area. She is dedicated to improving healthcare quality, patient safety and eliminating healthcare disparities. She is also a proud mother and partner to a beautiful family unit.
Dr. Vanessa Grubbs, MD
DIRECTOR OF ADULT MEDICINE
Dr. Vanessa Grubbs is a double board-certified nephrologist and internist, writer, activist, and kidney donor. In addition to her role as a primary care physician at Baywell Health, she is the Founder & President of Black Doc Village, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the inequitable dismissal of Black resident physicians through research and policy change.

Dr. Adrian James, MD is an internal medicine specialist with over 31 years of experience in the medical field. He graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles / Center for Health Sciences in 1992.
Dr. Monique Hedmann, MD
GERIATRICS
Dr. Monique Hedmann is a board-certified family medicine physician and geriatrician. She holds a master’s degree in public health (MPH) with a concentration in Aging, and managed several community health programs for older adults, children, and families prior to pursuing a career in medicine. In addition to serving as a primary care physician, she is an advisory board member and contributing artist for Hip Hop Public Health, Inc. and founding board member of Arts & Minds, Inc.
